$             BLACK   FRIDAY    T.A.Z.                  $
On Friday November 24, 2023
at around 123 pm,
at the corner of Felton Street
and Adams Avenue
in Normal Heights
Professor Ynot invites you to
join him and other psyche-nauts
on a Black Friday T.A.Z.
This Black Friday T.A.Z. is in honor of the 23rd anniversary of
the writer Hakim Bey, letting loose upon this world his ontological anarchy and miraculously poetic and liberating book, T.A.Z. The Temporary Autonomous Zone
At about 123pm, we will simply start drifting on foot from the corner of Felton Street and Adams Avenue and go wherever our creative instincts and desires tell us to go and experience. As the slogan of the student-worker rebellion in France so aptly put it, “Treat your desires as reality”.
No smart phones or cameras will be used to document this supremely ephemeral and sacred experience of present tense awareness and it will not be posted in any form whatsoever on the WWW or any Social Media sites
give your creative consciousness an unscheduled holiday from rational thought, spending money and the compulsive belief that POINT B actually exists
dive ONWARD into the wilds of unscheduled HEREDOM and experience the uncanny poetics of spontaneity, experience your own true nature and unmediated present tense awareness
give up the illusion/delusion that there is ever a POINT B to reach–meaning we will drift for an in-determinant amount of time in the uncharted territory of the eternal now of POINT A
empty all your pockets of who you think you are, leave behind your smart phone, your good name, all forms of “ID”, your reputation, become joyously nobody, drifting serenely and aimless as a cloud through the unknown world of HEREDOM

What is a T.A.Z., or Temporary Autonomous Zone?

“T.A.Z.: The Temporary Autonomous Zone is a book by the anarchist writer and poet Hakim Bey (Peter Lamborn Wilson). It was published in 1991 by Autonomedia and in 2011 by Pacific Publishing Studio (ISBN 978-1-4609-0177-9). It is composed of three sections, “Chaos: The Broadsheets of Ontological Anarchism”, “Communiques of the Association for Ontological Anarchy” and “The Temporary Autonomous Zone”.

The book describes the socio-political tactic of creating temporary spaces that elude formal structures of control.[1] The essay uses various examples from history and philosophy, all of which suggest that the best way to create a non-hierarchical system of social relationships is to concentrate on the present and on releasing one’s own mind from the controlling mechanisms that have been imposed on it.

In the formation of a temporary autonomous zone, Bey argues, information becomes a key tool that sneaks into the cracks of formal procedures. A new territory of the moment is created that is on the boundary line of established regions. Any attempt at permanence that goes beyond the moment deteriorates to a structured system that inevitably stifles individual creativity. It is this chance at creativity that is real empowerment.

Bey later expanded the concept beyond the “temporary”, saying, “We’ve had to consider the fact that not all existing autonomous zones are ‘temporary.’ Some are … more-or-less ‘permanent.'”[2] Hence, the concept of the permanent autonomous zone.

The titular section is divided up into the following subsections:

  1. Pirate Utopias
  2. Waiting for the Revolution
  3. The Psychotopology of Everyday Life
  4. The Net and the Web
  5. “Gone to Croatan”
  6. Music as an Organizational Principle
  7. The Will To Power as Disappearance
  8. Ratholes in the Babylon of Information

On the Winter Solstice of 2022, Professor Ynot retired from thirty-three years of teaching. As he steps with gratitude away from the ringing school bells and beloved students, Professor Ynot is now evolving ONWARD to HEREDOM, a Nomadic Academy for Creative Consciousness.
TENAM Studio
The first actions of ONWARD to HEREDOM took place during the Adams Avenue Street Fair at TENAM Studio in Normal Heights on September 24, 2022, San Diego and is now evolving on a celestial time schedule over the next several tree tops to come.
